Overview

Individuals who are interested in becoming Personal Care Home Administrators in Pennsylvania can take the required 100 Hour program. According to statute PA 55 Section 2600.64 (a)(2) regarding administrator training and orientation: Prior to initial employment as an administrator a candidate shall successfully complete a 100 hour standardized Department approved administrator training course.

Please note: You must apply for the course prior to completing the registration. Please click on “Apply” to complete the course application. Upon approval, we will direct you in registration and payment for the course.

The Fall 2019 Personal Care Home Administrator 100 Hour Course will be held in two locations: Harrisburg and Philadelphia. The Philadelphia course will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from September 17, 2019 until November 26, 2019, at Temple University Center City. The Harrisburg course will be held every Thursday from September 19, 2019 until February 6, 2020, at Temple University Harrisburg. All classes will start promptly at 8:30 am.

Program Fee: $1,475.00 paid at time of registration. This program fee includes the cost of the exam.  Space will be limited, and registration will close once the class has reached capacity. Space cannot be held prior to receipt of full program fee. 


Exam

  • The PCHA Exam is required for all individuals who complete the 100-hour standardized department-approved administrator training after Jan. 31, 2009

  • The exam can be taken at Temple University Harrisburg, by appointment only, by emailing jennifer.donahue@temple.edu

  • The exam costs $150.  This exam fee is waived for individuals who have completed the full 100-hours with Temple University Harrisburg.

  • Individuals may register for the exam if they have completed the 100 Hour course at a DHS approved training facility OR if they have a current PA NHA License. Either way, documentation must be submitted to Jennifer Donahue prior to taking the exam.
